Diageo Australia is investing over $5 million into the newest campaign and television commercial for Bundaberg Red.

The new advertisement is the first for Bundaberg Rum in over a year and the second ever for Bundaberg Red.

Shot by Oscar-winning cinematographer, Andrew Lesnie, the advertisement for Bundaberg Red Rum is a masculine melodrama entitled ‘Make your Smooth’, and depicts a showdown between Bundy R. Bear and two bourbon drinkers in a scenario reminiscent of the classic Clint Eastwood movie ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’.

For the first time ever Bundy R. Bear appears in CG technology, giving him a new lease on life and creating a better cinematic experience for the viewer.

“Bundaberg Red has been a big win for the Bundy brand, and this campaign is a bold step for the brand which we hope will drive brand,” said Bundaberg Rum marketing manager, Matt Bruhn.

“Furthermore, bringing our brand icon, Bundy R. Bear to life using the latest CG technology will add a new element to the campaign’s appeal and impact.”

The “Make Your Smooth’ television commercial will run nationally for 12 weeks.
