It is with great sadness TheShout advises of the passing of prominent and highly regarded pub operator Alex Lind, who died unexpectedly last Thursday, 7 August.

Alex was proprietor of the Pyrmont Point Hotel and Coopers Hotel in Newtown, and active member of the AHA NSW and wider hotel community.

Industry veteran and close friend William Ryan summised the thoughts of many that knew the man.

“In Alex's tragic passing we have lost a great friend and colleague. The hotel industry is poorer without him in it. We will miss him every day.”

Alex leaves behind his wife Leigh and children Alice, Harrison, Fraser and Maja.

A funeral service for family and close friends will be held tomorrow at Northern Suburbs Crematorium, Delhi Rd, North Ryde.

  1. Alex epitomized the fresh culture of Sydney’s inner city pubs. As the inner city suburbs changed, Alex was on the front foot, providing innovative ideas to keep customers happy, such as craft beers and quality food. He will be missed.
