Vanguard Luxury Brands has announced it has managed to secure a very limited allocation of Michter’s Celebration Sour Mash Whiskey for Australia.

A limited number of bottles of the 2019 Edition of Michter’s Celebration available worldwide and Vanguard has secured nine bottles of this collectible, one-of-a-kind whiskey for Australian hands.

“It’s been a long three years since our last allocation of Michter’s Celebration Sour Mash,” said James France, Vanguard Luxury Brands’ founder and Managing Director.

“We’re really excited to be able to offer the 2019 release to a select few Michter’s supporters in Australia, and as this is Daniel McKee’s first Celebration Sour Mash, it adds an extra dimension to the release.”

The 2019 Michter’s Celebration is a blend of whiskey from six barrels, carefully selected by Michter’s Master Distiller Dan McKee.

“Working on my first Celebration release was a labour of love for me,” McKee said. “Ultimately, I chose to take whiskey from two Kentucky straight bourbon barrels and four Kentucky straight rye barrels in our stocks.

“Each Celebration release is special and unique, and this year’s release differs from the 2016 one, where the whiskey came from three bourbon barrels and three rye barrels.”

The tasting notes of the 2019 Edition highlight dark chocolate truffle, savoury characteristics, and a hint of spice.

There are “notes of citrus and pineapple wrapped in the warmth of clove and cinnamon with the lingering richness of candied pecans and maple syrup on the finish”.

Michter’s is available now from a very select number of retailers in Australia, RRP $8,500.
