Vanguard Luxury Brands has announced the addition of the premium artisanal Tequila Fortaleza range to its portfolio.

Fortaleza, also known as Los Abuelos (the label name it is sold under in Mexico), is a hand-crafted tequila made from 100 per cent stone-milled agave and a century-old traditional process in the town of Tequila.

“This tequila is a sought after brand with an unrivalled heritage,” said Vanguard Luxury Brands director James France.

“I owe my thanks to Sophie Decobecq and Stefano Francavilla from Calle 23 tequila for introducing me to the man behind Fortaleza, Mr Guillermo Erickson Sauza, last year in the town of Tequila.”

Guillermo Erickson Sauza is a fifth-generation Sauza family member, who in 1999 restored the century old La Fortaleza distillery his family owned (which had been turned into tourist museum) in order to produce tequila using a traditional process.
