The Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) has announced the appointment of Annette Kimmitt AM as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Kimmitt has more then 37 years’ professional and commercial experience including being the CEO and Managing Partner of Australia’s largest law firm, MinterEllison, the Global Growth Markets Leader at Ernst & Young as well as other leadership roles with EY.

Kimmitt was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours for her significant service to business and gender equality and inclusion.

VGCCC Chair Fran Thorn said Ms Kimmitt would bring significant experience and leadership skills to her role as CEO.

“Her background in the business world and her experience in audit and risk management in particular will be a huge asset to our regulation of the gambling and liquor industries and ensuring harm minimisation,” she said.

Thorn thanked VGCCC’s General Counsel and Executive Director, Regulatory Policy and Legal Services Scott May for the excellent job he has done as Acting CEO since November last year.

“Scott has shown great leadership during what has been a very busy time for the VGCCC, including overseeing the work to separate the regulation of gambling and liquor and our ongoing response to the pandemic.”

Kimmitt will commence as CEO on 21 March 2022.
