Over 1000 people gathered at the Burswood Entertainment Complex this week for the AHA WA Awards for Excellence, recognising achievements in the areas of hospitality, service, food and beverage.

Australian Hotels Association Western Australia CEO, Bradley Woods, said the standard among award hopefuls had never been so high.

Perth’s Hyde Park Hotel (pictured – ©Red Images Fine Photography) snatched the Pub of the Year award, with Yallinyup’s Caves House Hotel taking out the award for the best ‘Regional Venue’.

WA’s coveted Best Hospitality Venue was awarded to Rockpool Bar & Grill Perth, which scooped the awards also taking out ‘Mixology and Cocktail Menu’, ‘Restaurant within a Hotel’, ‘Hotel Wine List’ and ‘Venue manager’ with David Best.

The ‘Best Bistro’ award went to The Brook Bar and Bistro, and Five Bar took home the prize for ‘Small Bar’.

Sonja Gastevich received the Hospitality Industry Lifetime Achievement Award, most recently for her work with the Hospitality Total Services organisation.
