Whisky Jerx, a pop-up bar with a theme inspired by the seminal 1990s movie Wayne's World, opens in Sydney later this month.

The bar was conceived by the winners of the Monkey Shoulder Ultimate Bartender Competition, Ben Blair, Reece Griffiths and Lee Potter Cavanagh, who received $20,000 from Monkey Shoulder to fund the venture.

Located on Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, Whisky Jerx plans to offer a fun, friendly house party experience with an evolving offering of five house made sodas, quickfire cocktails and a small selection of spirits that the owners think are "magically babelicious".

Speaking to TheShout regarding the 'Wayne's World' theme, Blair said: “We wanted to bring the fun and cheek back to Sydney. By offering a selection of five delicious cocktails, wines, beers and spirits each day, plus our live music, Sydney-siders will never have the same Whisky Jerx experience twice.”

"There will be plenty of rock classics from the house band and a youthful exuberance that bleeds from the walls."

"Expect a fast, loud and fun night out with Wayne’s World as the inspiration – think crafted sodas served unpretentiously, tinnies of delicious beer and banging cocktails all at a decent price, perhaps a little Bohemian Rhapsody until the wee hours," he said.

Running from February 18 until March 22, Whisky Jerx will be open at 231 Oxford St, Darlinghurst from 6pm to 3am Wednesday to Sunday.
