The Wine Communicators of Australia (WCA) have appointed Jeffrey Wilkinson to the newly created role of national executive officer.

Wilkinson brings more than 30 years wine industry experience to the role, having previously worked both in Australia and overseas for companies including Southcorp Wines Europe, Brown Brothers, Yellowglen, Wolf Blass and Cumulus.

WCA President, Rob Hirst, said the appointment of Wilkinson was a major step forward for the organisation.

“A significant initiative in WCA’s new strategic plan was the appointment of paid professional staff to drive improvements and deliver a range of high quality features and benefits to our members. The National Executive Officer is the first of such staff roles and we are delighted to be announcing Jeffrey’s appointment to this position,” said Hirst.

The WCA’s new strategic plan was formally approved by its membership at its Annual General Meeting earlier this month.

The strategic plan aims to position the WCA as the pre-eminent international organisation connecting business professionals working with wine.
