Enjoying a guilt-free glass of wine while on a diet has become a reality following the announcement that Weight Watchers has endorsed the Balance wine range by McWilliam’s Wines.

Consisting of a semillon sauvignon blanc and a shiraz, a 150ml glass of Balance wines is equal to one Weight Watchers point, making it easy for people on the Weight Watchers program to keep track of the calorie intake while enjoying a glass of wine.

Over 1.8 million people follow the Weight Watchers program in Australia each year.

“We’re really pleased to have this endorsement from Weight Watchers,” said McWilliam’s winemaker, Jim Brayne. “It’s fulfilling to know that we’re giving people who like to enjoy a glass of wine a lower kilojoule and lower alcohol option. Our alignment with Weight Watchers is about making dining out and entertaining easier.”

The McWilliam’s Balance range contains 8.5 percent alcohol, making it one third lower in alcohol and kilojoules than regular table wine.

A 150ml glass, while being equal to one Weight Watchers point, is also equal to one standard drink.

McWilliam’s Balance has an RRP of $16.99.
