The inaugural Whisky Show to be held in Sydney next month will feature one of the largest ranges of whiskies on show in Australia at any one time, as well as the first ever Australasian Whisky Awards for spirits produced in Australia and New Zealand.

Taking place at the Tattersalls Club on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 July 2012, the Whisky Show will feature around 17 exhibitors and over 150 different types of whisky from around the world.

Organiser, World of Whisky is also hosting the Glenmorangie cocktail competition as well as a whisky and cheese masterclass on Saturday 21 July.

But perhaps most groundbreaking for the Australian whisky scene is the first ever Australasian Whisky Awards, open to anyone producing whisky in either Australia or New Zealand.

There will be two categories for the awards – single malt and single malt cask strength – as well as a single supreme winner.

The whiskies will be judged by World of Whisky's Dan Woolley, former Diageo ambassador Robb Sloan, Behind Bars' Sven Almenning, Chivas Regal Australian ambassador Laura Hay and drinks writer Simon McGoram.
