Over 50 winemakers will be participating on the Wine Australia stand at ProWein – the world’s largest wine and spirits exhibition to be held in Germany next week.

The Wine Australia stand will profile 250 wines from nine regions and four states and is located within the exhibition located alongside other Australian wine companies including Treasury Wine Estates, Accolade Wines, De Bortoli, Grant Burge, Chateau Tanunda, Kingston Estate Wines, Cumulus Wines and Warburn Estate as well as a strong presence from the New Zealand Winegrowers.

Last year ProWein attracted over 4,700 exhibitors from over 48 countries with over 44,000 visitors in attendance including major buyers from Europe.

According to Wine Australia Regional Director UK & Europe, Yvonne May, the strong Australian contingent will showcase the diversity of Australian wine both in its varietals and its regions.

“Wine Australia’s stand is fully subscribed and we’re delighted to be partnering with Australian producers to highlight the breadth of our wine portfolio and the strength of the Australian category,” May said.

Five feature tastings will be conducted on the Wine Australia stand focusing on the themes ‘Arneis, Fiano, Touriga Nacional & Co. – Discover the Unknown Australia’, ‘Cool Climate, Hot Topic – Cool Wines from Australia’, ‘Terroir  Matters – Why Australian Riesling is Different’, ‘Heritage by the Glass – Rare Wines From Old Vines’ and ‘Family Business – Australia’s Wine Families Show Their Treasures’.

“ProWein will give our wine producers the opportunity to meet and do business with the world’s leading wine trade at this highly influential event, where hundreds of meetings are held and business is written each year,” said May.

“Several of our Australian wine producers will be using the event to seek distribution throughout Europe and generate business in untapped markets.”
