Climate change and its effects on wine will be the topic of a Melbourne and Sydney event this week, staged by the recently renamed and expanded Wine Communicators of Australia (WCA).

Formerly the Wine Press Club of NSW, the association is hosting Dr Richard Smart, who will discuss the impacts of climate change on Australian wine production, the trade and consumers.

The Melbourne event will be held at The Point Restaurant in Albert Park on Thursday at 7:00pm. The Sydney event will take place on Friday at Cucina de Lusso at University Hall in Glebe from 12:30pm.

The sessions mark the start of a busy calendar for WCA, with upcoming tastings, dinners and lectures in both Sydney and Melbourne.

These include a presentation of findings relevant for retailers in mid-May, closely followed by a dinner session on Pinot Noir and a lecture and dinner with Robert Joseph in mid-June.
