Budding wine show judges have the chance to learn more about the skills involved at the Macquarie Group Sydney Royal Wine Show next month.

McWilliam’s Wines is calling for participants, who will be guided through the judging process before taking part in an actual wine judging class.

The class will be directed by chairman of judges for the 2009 Macquarie Group Sydney Royal Wine Show, Iain Riggs, along with international wine judge Barry Burton (Hong Kong).

The keen tasters will judge Class 1 [Commercial Riesling, Gewürztraminer or blends thereof] and Class 45 [Premium Section 2008 and older Pinot Noir] of this year’s Sydney Royal Wine Show.

Their points will then be compared and discussed with the actual results taken earlier in the day.

The course is well-suited for those applying for the Len Evans Tutorial sessions this year, along with anyone interested in learning more about the Australian wine show system.

It is on February 2 at Sydney Olympic Park and the cost is $100 per person and strictly limited to 15 people.

The McWilliam’s Wine Show Judging Experience is presented in conjunction with the Macquarie Group Sydney Royal Wine Show and The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS).
