The Clare Valley's Jim Barry Wines and William Downie of Victoria have announced new agency and distribution arrangements over the last few days.

After 30 years of agency representation by Australian Liquor Marketers (ALM) in Tasmania, Jim Barry Wines has appointed Samuel Smith and Son as its agent in the state. ALM will be retained as their distributor.

"We are moving to Samuel Smith and Son in Tasmania, to bring the state in line with the rest of Australia, but we certainly still value our association with ALM," said Peter Barry, proprietor of Jim Barry Wines.

"It's really just a matter of moving a few pieces around on the chessboard."

Meanwhile, William Downie has announced that Samuel Smith and Son will assume the role of national distributor for the brand.

William Downie Pinot Noir comprises three regional wines from the Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley and Gippsland. Samuel Smith will start distribution with the three 2011 wines.
