On Tuesday 31 October, more than 900 industry professionals gathered at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre to celebrate the winners at the 2023 AHA SA Hotel Industry Awards for Excellence.

The annual AHA SA Hotel Industry Awards honour the achievement of excellence in the state’s pubs across a wide range of categories.

AHA SA CEO Anna Moeller said: “We are delighted to honour all the winners of the 2023 Hotel Industry Awards for Excellence. The AHA SA Hotel Awards for Excellence is a celebration of the accomplishments of SA’s hotels, where we come together to celebrate their outstanding facilities, service and delivery.”

Following its transformation and reopening in September 2021, Unley based venue The Cremorne Hotel was awarded Best Overall Hotel – General Division. The pub was recognised by the judges as displaying a high level of excellence across all facets of the venue, and for its clean and contemporary setting.

The Cremorne Hotel also claimed the awards for Best Bar Presentation and Experience – Metropolitan and Best Bistro Casual Dining – Inner Metropolitan. Judges praised the venue for offering an ever-evolving food menu with attentive service, accompanied by a broad range of beverages and best practice hospitality.

Grace Kelliher, venue manager at the Cremorne Hotel, said: “We are so grateful to have been recognised for such awards, especially as we were up against some great South Australian Venues. The support we have received from our local and fellow hospitality community has been overwhelming.

“But I must admit, the real stars are each and every one of the staff members here at the Cremorne hotel. We couldn’t have a better team even if we tried, and now we have the proof with these three amazing awards.”

Also highly awarded was the McLaren Vale Hotel, which won the coveted title Best Overall Hotel – Country. Judges noted that the venue provided a wonderful facility in all aspects, placing a sophisticated focus on attracting tourism to the region and providing a high level of customer satisfaction.

Recognising the impressive redevelopment of the historic 1850s hotel, the McLaren Vale Hotel also received Best Redeveloped – Country, and W.T. Spurr AO Award for Tourism & Regional Promotion, in acknowledgement of its promotion of the McLaren Vale region.

A further three pubs were inducted into the Hotel Awards Hall of Fame after winning their categories for multiple consecutive years. The Warradale Hotel once again took home the title of Best Sporting Entertainment Venue, the Governor Hindmarsh Hotel was awarded Best Entertainment Venue, and the Watervale Hotel received the award for Best Innovation, Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Practice.

“Congratulations to the Cremorne Hotel, the McLaren Vale Hotel and Mount Lofty House for achieving best in class in their respective categories, and to all winners of the 2023 Hotel Awards for Excellence,” Moeller added.

“All SA winners will now be entered into the AHA National Hotel Awards, to be held in Adelaide on 27 November.”
