Lion Nathan National Foods (LNNF) is confident a strike at its western Sydney Toohey's brewery will be swiftly resolved and has moved to reassure the trade that it will have no impact on supply.

82 brewery technicians went on strike today (Nov 22) but stoppages are only expected to last for an hour or two.

A spokesperson for LNNF said negotiations with the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union, which represents the striking workers, were ongoing.

She said it was too soon to speculate if the strike would continue over the remainder of the week.

“This action will have no impact on supply as we have ample stock and are still producing beer,” she told TheShout.

“We will consider using contractors or bringing other breweries online if the strike persists.”

The workers are demanding a 4.5 percent pay increase while the brewer is offering 3 percent.
