YCK Laneways is following on from its hugely successful six-week block party with a major one-off live music event. Live at Barrack Street takes place on Wednesday 19 May and will be headlined by ARIA winner Jarryd James.

While the event will officially conclude inaugural festivities for YCK Laneways, it’s just the beginning for the bars spanning York, Clarence and Kent Street (YCK) in the CBD and their recognition as an official bar precinct in Sydney.

Karl Schlothauer, CEO of House of Pocket and President of the Independent Bar Association NSW told The Shout this event is a celebration of the hard work all bar owners and operators in the area have done over the last decade.

“Looking back, just over 10 years ago small bars were released into the NSW and Sydney night time economy. Now to see us all working together help rebuild the city and nightlife in Sydney is just bloody awesome,” he said.

“Live at Barrack Street is a celebration of all that hard work, as well as the future for small bars and YCK.”

The Live at Barrack Street event will feature live music performances by a cross mix of musical genres and local artists, including indie songstress D’Arcy Spiller and up-and-coming singer-songwriter Budjerah. The event will be headlined by singer, song writer and record producer Jarryd James who is set to deliver “a soulful blend of electro-pop and R‘n’B”.

Gates open from 5pm and ticketholders are invited to settle in on time and enjoy the musical warm-up led by DJ Levins; a regular fixture on Sydney’s once-thriving nightlife circuit, whilst sipping on a refreshing selection of Patrón Tequila and Bombay Gin cocktails.

Ticketholders can continue their discovery of Sydney’s finest small bars post event, receiving 50% off their first festival cocktail at participating bars within the YCK precinct, including Since I Left You, Papa Gede’s, Spawn Point, The Barber Shop, The Duke of Clarence, Stitch Bar, Uncle Mings, The Lobo, Prince of York, Burrow Bar, The Rook, Sammy Junior, Grandma’s Bar, Esteban and The Swinging Cat.

Located at Barrack Street in the middle of the CBD, the one-off music event is easily accessible by public transport and city workers are encouraged to make the most out of this hump day event which aims to reignite the pulse of Sydney’s nightlife and inject some much-needed life back into the CBD.
