Despite last ditch efforts from the owners, the local community and the Mayor of Leichhardt, receivers have now been appointed to manage the Annandale Hotel.

Owners since 2000, Matt and Dan Rule surrendered control of the stalwart music venue to the bank and receiver Ferrier Hodgson, who also took control of the Sandringham last year.

But the Rule brothers report a positive outlook for the hotel’s continued support of live music, and for its existing staff.

"We are working with them to ensure that live music does stay at this iconic Sydney venue," said Dan Rule in a statement.

"Existing staff and bookers are staying on at the hotel, while in stepping aside we wish the venue all the best for the future and urge Sydney music fans to continue to support live music."

  1. I think it hypocritical that the Leichhardt Council say they want to come to rescue of the Annandale Hotel as it was their stupidity and lack of foresight that eventually led to the receivership. They never supported the owners in any applications.
