Australia’s largest family-owned wine company, Casella Family Brands, has advanced its sustainability efforts by joining the Sustainable Wine Roundtable (SWR).

SWR is a global collaborative platform with more than 90 members working to advance sustainability across the wine industry from production through to retail. The SWR is creating a global sustainability reference standard and developing tools that improve vineyard chemistry, labour standards, packaging, bottle weight and low carbon logistics.

Casella Family Brands is the producer of Yellow Tail, which was recently named by Wine Intelligence as the world’s most powerful wine brand. Through its new partnership with WSR, the wine company is strengthening its collaboration with stakeholders across the wine value chain to further define and guide what sustainability success looks like for the industry.

Libby Nutt, Global Marketing and Export Sales Manager of Casella Family Brands, said that alongside WSR, Casella will support in driving these global standards in the wine industry.

“Casella Family Brands is thrilled to join the Sustainable Wine Roundtable and further our activities to address sustainability issues in the wine industry,” said Nutt.

“We are proud to be working with members who share a similar vision in preserving the natural environment, respecting human rights and generating a passion to better the industry.”

Sarah Bräude, Sustainability Manager at Casella Family Brands, recently spoke at SWR’s Global Climate Conference, highlighting that working as a collective would create many opportunities to increase global sustainable wine production standards.

“Casella Family Brands is thrilled to play an active role in future projects that directly support our sustainability values and advance sustainability in the wine sector,” she said.
