Clubs Queensland has partnered with a leading security provider to introduce an accredited armed robbery survival skills course.

The course offers staff the knowledge and skills to handle any situation calmly, confidently and safely. It has been designed and coordinated by ATMAAC international, a global consultancy that delivers solutions for an array of security-related matters.

Training is offered in the form of an internal course for member venues, allowing up to 20 staff to train together at once. Smaller venues may team up with other clubs to share the costs.

“This is a serious matter that affects all venues from small bowls clubs to large leagues clubs,” Clubs Queensland said in a statement. “We do not have big security systems like banks. Add to this late trading hours and plenty of cash on premises, it is easy to see why our venues are now seen as soft targets for criminals.

“Change this attitude by changing yours, have your staff trained with armed robbery survival skills.”

The course lasts for four hours and costs $110 per person.
