The rise and rise of seltzer in Australia shows no sign of letting up, and is so strong that popular Victorian brewer Moon Dog has said that it expects to be selling more seltzer than beer by the end of 2021.

Moon Dog’s seltzer growth will be boosted as it has become the 350th supplier to join the Kaddy platform, which helps supplies connect directly with over 1350 on- and off-premise customers instantly.

Moon Dog’s move onto Kaddy comes as the brewer has seen over 100 per cent year-on-year growth along the East Coast, propelled by the explosive growth of Moon Dog’s alcoholic seltzer, Fizzer.

“Over 6 short months, Fizzer Seltzer has become our biggest brand and we expect by the end of 2021 to be selling more Seltzer than beer,” Sam Stroud, Moon Dog’s National Off-Premise Sales Manager said.

Kaddy co-founder Rich Coombes said the nationwide boom in seltzers was also being reflected on the Kaddy platform.

“Despite the relative infancy of the category, over 30% of Kaddy customers now order seltzer using the platform,” Coombes said.

“The ease of connection means that it’s really simple for any licensed venue to discover and order high growth products like seltzers, and exciting craft producers like Moon Dog.

“For a rapidly expanding craft brand like Moon Dog, Kaddy is a simple way to bring their amazing product portfolio to a wide range of trade customers – whether that’s in their own backyard of Melbourne or across state borders.”

Going live in Victoria in the midst of the state’s 2020 marathon lockdown, Kaddy is now used by over 300 bars, bottleshops and restaurants in Victoria alone. And with other states now facing similar challenges, Coombes hopes Kaddy can be a useful resource to other operators in the same way.

“In the current climate, we understand trade customers are looking for the right brands, margin structures and operational efficiencies,” he said.

“Our goal is that any venue or liquor retailer has the ability to access and trade with producers like Moon Dog, with as little friction as possible. Whether that’s removing the need for credit applications, offering flexible payment terms, or having one channel to keep up to date with the latest products and trends  – by introducing Kaddy to more venues, we aim to increase the amount of business that is done with fast growing local producers like Moon Dog and help grow the overall pie of craft.”

Trade customers in NSW, ACT and Victoria can now use Kaddy to order with Moon Dog Brewing.
