The highest number of Australian wineries in history will be exhibiting at the world’s largest wine and spirit exhibition – ProWein – which starts this weekend.
A total of 6300 exhibitors from 60 countries representing 295 wine growing regions will come together for the three day event from 19-21 March at Messe Düsseldorf in Germany with almost 100 exhibitors and 200 separate brands from Australia and New Zealand.
The list of wineries participating on the Wine Australia stand has increased with 76 separate brands represented at this year’s event compared to 70 brands last year. Other Australian wineries participating on their own exhibition stands include De Bortoli Wines, Calabria Family Wines, Treasury Wine Estates, Accolade Wines, Casella Family Brands, Australian Vintage, Berton Vineyards, Kingston Estate, Two Hands Wines, Nugan Estate, Limestone Coast, Negociants and Global Beverage Brands.
Over 30 New Zealand wineries will also be represented including Pernod Ricard, Yealands, Villa Maria, Babich, Giesen, Sileni and Marisco.
Wine Australia has released its on-stand schedule for the exhibition which will include tastings highlighting regions and varietals: The Art of Australian Riesling, Margaret River Cabernet, Australia’s Great Grenache, Cool Climate Australia, Gems of the Riverland, The Diversity of Shiraz and The Italian Job.
“Discover the quality, diversity and innovation of Australian wine,” Wine Australia said in a statement promoting ProWein 2017.
“Connect with 76 wineries, taste wines seeking distribution, discover the latest releases and explore new opportunities. With over 500 wines, feature tastings, regional tastings, master classes, a culinary journey and happy hours, the Wine Australia stand is the place to be at ProWein.”
For the first time at ProWein, the Asian Wine Producers’ Association will present a selection of Asian winemakers. Also featured this year will be a separate area for Organic Wines featuring 30 international exhibitors.
