Seven Australian venues have made the top 100 listing at worldsbestbars.com, an industry website built around user-generated content.
Der Raum, an award-winning cocktail bar in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond, topped the Australian contingency, coming in at 12th. Acclaim for the Victorian capital’s eclectic nightlife was bolstered by the Melbourne Supper Club and The Collection, which ranked 19th and 37th respectively on the list.
Four Sydney venues feature on the list. Jimmy Liks, a restaurant and bar in the Kings Cross area, came in 38th, while The Loft on King Street Wharf was ranked 68th. Water Bar, a large-format cocktail bar in the impressive lobby of
Woolloomooloo’s Taj Hotel, came 74th, while the Sydney Hilton’s Zeta Bar was ranked 86th on the list.
European venues occupy the top five rankings, led by the George V Hotel Bar of Paris, UK haunts Socio Rehab, The Exclusive Newz Bar and March EC1, with Amsterdam’s Club 11 coming in fifth.
